With 3D printing, the future is here

From zero to hero in the blink of an eye – additive production through the entire manufacturing chain

URMA has greatly expanded its expertise in 3D printing in recent years. On the one hand, through applications in our own production and, on the other hand, with the development of a broad machine portfolio. Thanks to strong partners and an extensive range of peripheral devices and software, URMA supports and advises you in the introduction or expansion of your additive manufacturing. For your innovative, process-safe and scalable production!

URMA is an expert in 3D printing – from initial consultation to quality inspection

Additive manufacturing enables a high degree of flexibility, effectiveness, automation and process safety, as well as the traceability of production. To ensure successful industrialisation, the entire process chain from design, optimisation, production, post-processing – and all the way to quality inspection – must be taken into account. It is also important to ensure complete traceability in a PLM system, as well as the documentation of each individual part's production via MOM / MES.

Pre-processing and design: Create and import print data

In order to create a digital template, the data must first be prepared. Such a 3D model can be created with the help of Hexagon or digitised with a 3D scanner. This is followed by checking the CAD model, correct positioning on the respective surface and adding support structures.

Scan 3D

Easily measure objects with the 3D scanners from Creaform, in order to obtain the component’s CAD data, or subject components to a subsequent quality check by scanning the finished workpiece.

Hexagon Additive Software

This software optimally supports you in data preparation, such as component orientation, the correct support geometry type and the appropriate exposure strategy

Materialise Magics

Materialise Magics 3D Print Suite is the perfect software platform for managing and automating labour-intensive tasks and scaling operations – regardless of 3D printing technologies or machines.

Production: 3D printing from metal, composite and plastic

Whether for the printing of small and delicate metal components, the production of high-quality parts from plastics or 3D printing with short or continuous fibres for special strength: URMA offers the complete range of machines for industrial quality printing results and every price segment. Three different system technologies are available for the following material types: Metal, polymer and composite.

EOS Metal Printer

With the metal printer, your components are printed using the DMLS process (direct metal laser melting). The laser welds the powder and brings it into the desired shape, layer by layer. The following metal alloys are available..

EOS Polymer Printer

The polymer 3D printers work using the SLS process (selective laser sintering). With this method, plastic powder is fused point by point, creating your 3D-printed component, layer by layer. Various plastics are available for this printing process.

Markforged Composite and Metal Printer

Markforged's composite printers produce continuous fiber-reinforced components with very high strength, which can even replace conventionally manufactured aluminum parts, while the additional “FX10 Metal Kit” can also be used to print actual metal components.

Post-processing: Post-processing and quality assurance

De-powdering, removing support structures or refining components: Depending on the printing process and component requirements, the amount of post-processing required for 3D-printed parts varies greatly. For cleaning, surface treatment, colouring and CNC machining of components, URMA provides you with various solutions and machines. In addition, quality control is an important part of post-processing.

DyeMansion post-processing

Cleaning, depowdering, surface treatment or colouring: DyeMansion has a broad machine portfolio for the perfect finishing of your plastic components. The machines are compatible with all plastic powder bedding processes.

Solukon Entpulverung

Solukon de-powdering

Rotations, as well as targeted vibration excitation, ensure that the powder can flow out of even the finest inner channels. For reactive materials, such as aluminium or titanium, the systems can also be inertised. The Solukon depowdering systems are compatible with all printers of the metal powder bed process.

CNC machines

URMA offers a complete range of vertical and horizontal machining centres, CNC lathes and turning and indexing tables and 5-axis machining centres, machining centres for mould making, machines for tool and jig making and milling machines in gantry design.
